Inside Spencer Island

Five kayaks and a tandem canoe launched from Langus Riverfront Park at 10:30 on a beautiful New Years’ Day. Paddling conditions were idea. The tide was high, there was little wind or current, and the sun was trying without much success to warm us up. We paddled up the river, down Union Slough, through a break in the dike and into Spencer Island, where we explored the upper part of the island by water, then had lunch and returned to Langus by way of Steamboat Slough. It was a quiet, uneventful day on the water.
